Should I replace my timing belt at the recommended interval?

Yes! If a timing belt fails, it causes major damage to the engine. It is much less costly to replace a timing belt as a preventative measure than to repair the engine when one fails.

What does my check engine, service engine soon, or malfunction indicator (MIL) light mean?

This is an emissions and engine performance indicator and it is letting you know that one of the many sensors or computer components has registered a fault code. Your car may seem to run fine or it can run poorly. It is best to have the car checked to address the issue and prevent further problems. You cannot pass the state emissions test with a check engine, service engine soon, or malfunction indicator light on.

What should I do if my car starts to overheat?

This is a very serious problem. Overheating can cause damage to your engine. As soon as possible, safely pull off the road and turn the car off! Do not attempt to check the fluid level in the radiator or coolant expansion tank since the fluid is very hot and may cause severe burns. It is best to have the car towed to the repair shop.

It is important to have the car checked immediately. The oil is the life blood of the engine and coolant in engine oil compromises the lubrication abilities of the oil, causing engine damage.

How do I make sure my battery has a good electrical connection?

Battery cables and terminals should be cleaned and inspected periodically to make sure they provide a good electrical connection.
